The Elite Energy Monitor for 120 volts comes with a single split core sensor that you clamp onto the hot side of any circuit that powers lights, toasters and for that matter, any 120 volt circuit. The sensor plugs into the battery powered wireless transmitter, which can be inside the breaker box and will transmit its findings to the battery powered receiver which displays the readings on a clear screen and can be placed anywhere in the house.

Elite Energy Monitor for 240 Volts

The 240 Volts Elite unit is similar to the 120 Volts unit except that you get two clamp on current sensors, one for each leg of your 240 Volts service. The two sensors plug into the tiny transmitter which you can mount inside or outside the power panel. The transmitter is powered by three AA batteries which are expected to last at least a year in service. The transmitter transmits to the receiver and after setting the date and time and inputting the per kilowatt cost of your electric service, you begin seeing just how much power your 240 Volt device is using. Or you can clamp the split core sensors onto the two "hot" wires of the incoming power lines and find out what your total house power is at any given time.
