Chinese quality can be very good

CHINA BASHING DOES NO ONE ANY GOOD!.
We need China and China needs the rest of the world. Co-operation should be the mantra.

Yes, there have been some spectacular bad news because of China's lax health and safety standards, but there have been some spectacular safety problems in the USA as well. How about Vioxx, which prompted the largest drug recall in history, for starters? But not a single Merck executive got the guillotine here because of the massive screwup with Vioxx. But China just executed the top executive in charge of drug safety among other things. So maybe we don't take commercial safety as seriously here as they do in China!

Yes China needs to do a better job of managing safety and quality concerns. But the USA and other countries need do more as well.

I, for one, am thankful that I can go to Walmart or Lowes and any number of other retail outlets and purchase well made Chinese priducts, like clothing, automotive products, furniture, cook ware and the list goes on, all at reasonable prices.

All this tells us that we should not go blindly buying stuff made in China without being as reasonably certain as possible that you are not buying shoddy products. As I travel in China, I am acutely aware that one must have good connections with the manufacturers and "boots on the ground" to protect one's interest. There are sorry manufacturers, there are good manufacturers and there are better ones. And as you would expect there are shady characters and there are genuine fine, honest people, and you cannot tell the difference by looking at pictures and reading descriptions on the internet. You have to go see the factories and meet the people. If that is not possible, then you better have a good reputable company or persons to do your looking and bidding.

Of course the same applies to every country, including developed countries. We speak of China here because we have centered out purchasing of solar, wind and alternate energy products in China. Believe it or not, China is doing more proportionately to develop alternate energy products than the USA and most other countries.

They manufacture and ride more electric scooters than anywhere else in the world. They are doing more to develop practical motors, batteries and motor controls than anyone else. I see more solar water heaters on rooftops there than anywhere else I travel. Many manufacturers involved in alternate energy products have adopted high quality and safety standards for their manufactured products.
